EVENT: Oktoberfest Brisbane 2013

Background of the festival: The Oktoberfest tradition started in 1810 to celebrate the October 12th marriage of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig to the Saxon-Hildburghausen Princess Therese, in Munich, Germany. Now Oktoberfest is held all over the world, consisting of barrel rolling races, live music, eating contests, authentic German food, dancing, yodelling and more!

About: Oktoberfest Brisbane is run privately by two local German-Australian families. It has been named one of the Top 10 Oktoberfests outside of Germany and now caters to over 35,000 guests. The festival is held over two weekends in October each year, offering a wonderful array of events, authentic food and beer, bringing together the Brisbane community.

What’s on: Oktoberfest brings the community together with hand crafted beer, traditional foods such as pretzels, pork knuckles, German sausages, schnitzel and more! Festival goers often dress up and get into the festivities clashing steins and dancing all night long.

Dates in Brisbane: This year Oktoberfest Brisbane will be held from 11th-18th October & 18th-20th October 2013.

Cost: Adult tickets $15 online or $16 at the gate for Fridays and Sundays or $20 online and $22 at the gate for Saturdays.
