Green Tea Matcha Latte

Have you ever tried a Starbucks Green Tea Matcha Latte? One cold morning, I craved for green tea but still wanted something milky, so tried the Green Tea Latte. While I happily sipped away enjoying the sweet taste, and feeling good because ‘green tea is good for you’ I did a quick Google search to find out how many calories/sugar was in my latte.
To my dismay, in a ‘Tall’ latte (equal to medium in most places) there are 260cal with 40g of sugar, wow. In contrast, a cafe latte is 190cals with 0g of sugar. Post sugar-high I decided never to drink a green tea latte from Starbucks again. I wanted an alternative, so shopped around and found from my local Asian grocer I the above Matcha powder, with no additives or sugar in it.
┬áNow I can happily make my own, with much less sugar and still get the same great taste. The below video shows how to make it just like Starbucks, however my version is much easier- stirring 1tsp of matcha with 1T hot water and 1tsp honey, then adding it to 1 cup of warm milk (with froth if you wish). Healthy alternatives are everywhere, but remember, just because something has a super food in it (like green tea) doesn’t mean that it is good for you.
